Trainers Information

The Curragh Training Grounds is a public training facility. All trainers and point to point handlers are welcome to use this facility 365 days a year.

All Trainers and point to point handlers are also required to contact Pat Kelly or Richie Brophy to book the gallops and the facilities they would like to use.

Once this has been completed, all facilities can be used and are available to users for the length of time that has been pre-agreed with the Curragh Training Grounds.

Curragh Based Trainers

Curragh based trainers are charged €350 per horse per quarter for full time trainers and one off fee for non curragh based trainers. Curragh Based Trainers Fees are paid directly from owner’s accounts in Horse Racing Ireland. Recent changes in billing means by Changing from half yearly to quarterly it allows owners to make savings for any period the horse isn’t training on the Curragh. Horses must be taken out of training officially from Horse Racing Ireland to ensure they are not charged.

This form can be used to return named or unnamed horses in training to us at the Curragh who have not already been returned in training to HRI.

Additional Curragh Based Trainers Costs

• Trial Grass Galloping Fees - €20 per horse
• Schooling €10 per horse
• Galloping after racing – €225 per horse
