How to Become a Curragh Trainer?
You must apply to the Irish Turf Club to obtain a license or a permit to train horses. Once you have a license or permit to train horses you can then apply to the Curragh Racecourse Committee to become a Curragh Trainer.
Opening Times of the Gallops?
- 7 days a week.
- 365 days a year
- Winter – 7.30am-1pm
- Summer – 5.30am-1pm
- Sundays open till 1pm
What Jumping facilities are there?
- Two & Half furlong all weather schooling strip, 4 easy fix hurdles, 3 easy fix fences
- All grass schooling are on Tuesdays and Fridays
- We have round hurdles, eight flights of Hurdles over approximately one mile and a quarter. We have a variety of steeplechase fences and easy fix hurdles on grass also.
What are the Charges for using the Gallops?
Non Curragh Based Trainer
Galloping Fees – 2010
- Before 11am - €80
- After 11 am - €60
Curragh Based Trainer
- €350 per horse per quarter
Can I walk the Curragh Training Grounds?
In the interest of safety we advise people not to walk on the Curagh until after 1 pm. Please note no dogs are allowed to use this facility until after 1pm.
